Relaxed Santiago Cyn & family.
« on: 10/09/10 01:12AM »
WHEN: Sunday October 10, at 11:00 am (KSU time, so arrive before)
MEET: Shell at corner of Jamboree and Irvine Blvd (see map link below)
ROUTE: See map below
SKILL LEVEL: Noobie, Intermediate, Expert*

This is a relaxed ride (noobies welcome).
59 miles and about 1.5 hour of riding.
Highlights: Visit these connected canyons... Santiago, Live Oak, Modjeska and Silverado.

Map of the route   <-- Click me.
Point A: Start and gas station: Shell at corner of Jamboree and Irvine Blvd.
Point B: U-turn at "Jack in the Box" in RSM.
Point C: Detour by Modjeska Cyn.
Point D: Tag the end of Silverado Cyn.
Point E: End at Denny's close to the 5 Fwy and Red Hill.

************* Skill Levels Defined:
Noobie -You have been riding your motorcycle for at least 3 months (hopefully more) and have confidence that you can ride around streets without any issues eg. stopping at stop lights, not stalling the bike, not falling over etc, making u-turns, etc.
Intermediate - You have been riding for at least 6 months (hopefully more) and feel comfortable enough to handle twisty roads as found in local canyons. You are mature enough to understand going slow is okay and not to try and keep up with riders that are faster than you as it will result in a crash.
Expert - You have been riding for years and hopefully been riding with the members going on the ride long enough to know how they ride.

I should still be able to make it. Will probably head down to the beach afterwards to work on my tan and take a swim.

Low sided on Saturday afternoon

Hopefully my foot will have stopped bleeding before this ride. Still dripping as I type. Ride is ON regardless, I will just pack up the gash for the ride.

Did a risky maneuver today and low-sided my bike while only wearing sandals. So happy I had my gloves and helmet.
My bike is already fixed up: Just a bit of touch up paint on the left brake and left pedal.
Motor and electrical seem fine. Yes, this was with my eBike, not my motorcycle.

That was fun.

8 of us started, then dropped to 5 on our return from Live Oak. No crashing or ticketing, with the motorcycle cop at the start of Santiago using the laser band instead of the usual Ka.

We explored the end of the paved road after the gates in Silverado Canyon. I was surprised to see all the road-crossing streams dry after the rain earlier this week. Adam's license plate was holding by its last bolt after that bit.

I enjoyed talking with Adam and Dennis at the restaurant.

Let's do it again,
   Jerome
