Title: California DMV Motorcycle Skills Test Videos
Post by: Snapshot on 06/03/09 10:25AM
I've worked with quite a few riders and helped them get from their permit to their license.  Found this while looking around for info on the DMV's riding test.

The California DMV Motorcycle Manual is here in PDF form: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/dl655/dl665mcycle.pdf

Should you want to set up a private practice course.  The DMV's "Lollipop of Doom" dimensions are 19 feet, 6 inches for the inside circle, and 21 feet, 9 inches for the outside line.  The cones are 12 feet apart.

Great vids.  I don't think I could have passed the DMV test without ALOT of practice.

great classic videos. I loved part 8, where they show you what you do to fail the test. but why do they pick the big fat chick to demonstrate how to fail the riding test?

Geesh, one slip of the throttle in the circle and your right into the back of the DMV building.
I also am glad I went the MSF route.

In San Clemente they have the circle wedged into this corner. On two sides if you go outside of it too much you're eating curb heh.

I did the test on my Vespa. It was easy, the tester only make me do 1/4 of the test. She told me to go up the line and around the circle 3 times. I lost count and went around 4. When I got back she asked me if I knew that I did an extra loop. I said yeah, I was having so much fun I thought I'd throw in an extra one for her. She laughed and passed me.

Don't they make you do it on a full fledged motorcycle (at least a 250) nowadays because there's an M1 for bikes and an M2 for scoots now. That's what I heard but I have no FHE. I went the MSF course and honestly don't think I could do the circle right now. I need to make a skillz day once I'm back in the OC.
